HI! I'M DENISE.
WHY I PAINT & MISSION STATEMENT
The short and simple reason is because I love the process. I started painting 14 years ago as a self-taught process for anxiety and stress release, and later moved to formal instruction at Colorado State University. Art gave me the ability to communicate visually and compensate where my hearing impairment makes it more difficult to build connections otherwise.
I am grateful I can pursue this passion; most of my inspiration comes from one of my favorite artists, Georgia O'Keeffe.
My mission is to create the a unique and wide array of contemporary westerns and original custom artwork. I strive to limit my pieces to originals for the sake of uniqueness and sole ownership. My 2023 goal is branching into mixed media, using biomaterials from our rural home to create environmental pieces to engage more with current events and develop a more impactful presence in non-profit and grant spaces. I want to make a lasting impact, grow as a storyteller, and prove to be an valuable emerging investment for curators and collectors.
